Who we are

Wellington ICU has around 250 staff to provide round-the-clock care for up to 24 ICU patients at a time. Every patient on life support has one nurse with them all the time, with doctors present in the ICU 24/7. Medical decisions are made by a team of ICU specialists during the three daily ward rounds. They work with and supervise doctors who are training in Intensive Care and other medical specialties.

Senior nurses lead the nursing team and provide education, mentorship and support. The clinical team is completed by Allied Health who provide expertise in a variety of areas to help patients during and after their ICU stay. Finally, clinical staff are supported by ward clerks, administrators and IT experts who keep the ICU running smoothly.

More information on the different ICU team members can be found below.
